The REAL unsung heroes...

Let us ask ourselves...who are the real heroes of today??
Are they the countless doctors and medical staff who toil and toil in order to save the lives of the people??
Or are they your local volunteers, who help out whenever there is a dire situation?? e.g. tsunami-hit areas....
Or are they your local neighbourhood policemen??? who uphold the law and bring peace to the country....
Or maybe...your local firemen???...who help put out fires, thus saving lives and properties....

If you think any of the above are the heroes of today...then you're just being naive and stupid and foolish...
Yeah..none of the above are heroes worth mentioning...heck..they don't even deserve to be in the papers just because they stopped a robbery or put out a fire or do some shit that any ass-crack could have done...

The real heroes of today work longer and harder than any other profession there is...They start work in the early morning..say bout 4-5am-ish and continue until about 6-7pm-ish...They work all 7 days of a week and seldom or never at all take day-offs or half-day-leaves and they do not get extra for working overtime nor do they get a bonus at the end of the year....They brave all and I mean ALL weather conditions to accomplish their job...And yet...why do we not appreciate what they have done for us?? Why do we look down upon them?? Why do we not even take a second look at them or even thank them for what they have done for the society???

So I say to everyone(including you if you're reading this)....suck up the pride....stand up and give our REAL heroes a big applause....for without the workers of MPPP you would be living in a dump right now...

Okay...why the fuss about MPPP??? Well, I used to be just as ignorant as everyone out there whenever I see a MPPP worker doing his job...I wouldn't even take a second look at him...All that changed when today, while I was out having a drive...I saw this MPPP worker and immediately I had to take my hat off(wasn't wearing any actually) and salute him....

I was waiting at the traffic lights when I saw this MPPP worker on his bike...stopped at the side of a busy road...alighted from his bike....whipped out an empty plastic bag and started collecting the rubbish at the side of the road...WITH HIS BARE HANDS!!!!! I could clearly see what was going into the plastic bag...tissues...cigarette boxes...a 7-11 slurpee cup...Heck...He might had even picked up a used condom or sanitary pad with all that rubbish throw...

What I respect most about him is that he didn't even think twice about the embarassment of picking up rubbish at the side of the road...what with members of the public(including yours truly) looking at him...He didn't even think of the risks of being knocked down by a passing vehicle...He just went on collecting and as soon as the area was rid of stupid garbage thrown by stupid people...he rode off in his bike...no complaints...no mumbling...no nothing....

If you still have no newfound respect for out MPPP workers..then you're just as fucked up as the shit people throwing garbage everywhere....I swore that when he looked at my direction...I gestured a thumbs up, a clap and a salute to him....He smiled back and was off...collecting more garbage...And oh ya...he was collecting garbage at 5pm on a Sunday....Still no respect?? Then you're just shit...

Can you imagine what would happen if the MPPP workers decided that they've had enough and decided to quit their job for good?? What would happen to Penang?? Who would wanna clean up the garbage which some inconsiderate shit-hole threw out??? Would YOU do it??? So people...before you throw your rojak plastic bags out...think of our MPPP workers first.....and imagine a Penang without them....
