Kids these days...Part II
Sunday night...Was having dinner with my family at Mr. Ho's place when this family of 4 came and sat at the table about a few feet from ours....The family included the parents, a teenage daughter and a small boy(5-ish) I think...Let's give them names shall we?
Father = Mr.I-don't-give-a-damn
Mother = Mrs.Whatever-lah
Daughter = Ms.I-want-and-I-must-get
Son = Mr.Ignorant
Usually, I wouldn't give a damn bout what's going on around me when I'm at the dinner table...I'll feast feast feast..and if there's anything that anyone wants to tell me...It'll have to wait...
But I couldn't help but eavesdrop on the conversation of that particular family...Why???
Ms.I-want-and-I-must-get was making so much noise and Mr.I-don't-give-a-damn and Mrs.Whatever-lah were not doing anything to stop her...Mr.Ignorant was just happily munching away at his food....GOOD FOR YOU MATE...WE CAN BE GOOD PALS.....
Anyways....the daughter was telling the father about some new Sony Ericsson phone...She was blabbering non-stop about OOOOooohhhhh how good the phone is and WaaaaaaaaaHHHH, so many features and yadda yadda yadda....The father, Mr.I-don't-give-a-damn was just nodding his head in agreement to whatever the daughter was saying...The mother was paying more attention towards the son..and the son was still busy feasting away...YUM.....
Anyways...the below conversation is half fact and half fiction...I'll leave it to you guys to find out which half is fiction..hehe
Daughter :- Daddy, you know that phone we saw just now...It's so beautiful laaaaaa....
Dad :- ***nods head in agreement*** yes arr???
Daughter :- Yeah...got colour screen and camera somemore you know...
Dad :- Ohhh...Is it??
Daughter :- YA!! and also got a few games...and can even type sms while talking on the phone...
Dad :- I see I see ****I don't give a damn woman!!!**** So how much is it again??
Daughter :- WAH Daddy...You want buy for me ah??? It's only RM1300 woh
Dad :- Oh........***shit...so expensive!!!***
Me :- ****chokes on "sio tu bak"(roast pork)**** Cough cough....****Materialistic bitch****
Mom :- ***pays even more attention to little son***
Son :- ***eats and eats and eats***
Daughter :- Daddy...How?? Can buy for me?? All my friends also got...
Dad :- I'll see first...***runs off to toilet...probably checking if he's got enough cash for the phone***
Daughter :- Mommy...I want that phone...
Mom :- Ah boy ah...eat some more...
Son :- ***eats eats eats***
Guys...If you were the father...would you actually spend that much for your daughter???
I wouldn't...Definitely I wouldn't....In my 20 years I grew up learning that we cannot have everything that we desire in life...
My mentor??? My father...
I grew up learning that no matter how much I "bodek"(suck up) to my father...I will never have the things that I want...
If I were to ask for magazines....*ting ting ting* ....he approves...cheap mar...
If I were to ask for a new RM1k+ handphone....*piak piak piak*....he slaps....
Anyways...If I were Mr. I-don't-give-a-damn...this is probably what I would tell my daughter or son if they ask for something that expensive...
Daughter :- Daddy, you know that phone we saw just now...It's so beautiful laaaaaa....
Me :- Yes ah??? The price tag also sure beautiful what...
Daughter :- Yeah...got colour screen and camera somemore you know...
Me :- I don't know woh...and I don't wanna know too...
Daughter :- YA!! and also got a few games...and can even type sms while talking on the phone...
Me :- Type sms?? Somemore while talking on phone?? Hello...I'm paying your blardy bill you know?
Daughter :- WAH Daddy...You want buy for me ah??? It's only RM1300 woh...
Me :- "Luuuuuuuu ki eong kannn"(you go fark off)...You think your "lao pek"(old man) print money???
Daughter :- Daddy...How?? Can buy for me?? All my friends also got...
Me :- Then you go stay with your friends lah (trademark phrase of my father whenever I compare myself to my friends)
Haha....I can't wait to be a father...its the only time where I can show any authority at all...
Ahh....crap...I just remembered...another thing that kids these days like to ask for is FREEDOM....Most teen movies that I've seen would depict the teenagers asking(demanding actually) for freedom from their parents...and most parents are on the losing side....However I applaude those parents who know how to handle this kinda situations...which of cause...includes my mentor...
Dad :- Don't talk to me about blardy freedom...As long as you're still staying under the roof of MY house and eating MY food, and using MY money...you'll blardy listen to what I have to say...If you want freedom, then you go pack YOUR bags, get out of MY house, and earn YOUR own money....then YOU can have all the freedom YOU want and YOU can do any shit YOU want....
Usually, this would leave me with nothing to say...Those were the rebellious years la...bout 16-17-ish...now that I'm 20 and getting older and older I actually appreciate the time,money and effort that my parents had put in to raise me up....
Haha...shit...serious...I can't wait to be a father...With all the knowledge of parenting imparted to me by me mentor...I'm ready to impart this knowledge back to my children...I can't wait to see the look on the faces of my children when I give them the lecture about FREEDOM...ahhahahahhaa...You might think that any child which will have me as a father is unlucky but I'm just doing this for their own good...Most children nowadays are so blardy pampered that it is the parents who are afraid of the child....
As you guys might know, nowadays parents are so overprotective of their children that even if the child was hit by a teacher for not doing their homework, the parents would be at the school in a jiffy to create a riot...In the end...even teachers nowadays are scared of the children..
I remembered reading in the newspaper about children of the yester-years...the writer wrote that his parents were called up to school because he had not completed his homework...Instead of protecting his child, the fella's father gave the go-ahead for the teacher to whack the holy shit out of the fella....YES...DISCIPLINE!!!!
Yeah...I'm a sick and twisted fella who's ready to teach the future generation some discipline, old-school style....Bring back the well-disciplined individuals of yester-years and out with the sissies and pussies of today's children....Cheeriossssssssssss..............
